We’ve asked this week’s curator Christian May of Maison21, to share with us his thoughts and inspiration for his Curator’s Collection event. Here’s what he had to say:

The Maison21 philosophy is simple: your home should make you happy, and if it doesn’t, redecorate.
To me, a happy room always has bright color and bold pattern, paired with a little glitz and glamor. It should stylish and functional – and, being a huge animal lover, pet-friendly as well – without ever sacrificing the chic-factor. This collection gives you a little bit of all of that. The items selected are either something I’ve used in in a client’s home or would like to use in my own. I’ve taken ingredients from my favorite decorating recipe, and boiled it down to “black white and bold”: crisp black and white basics, along with liberal jolts of color, a little in-your-face pattern, and lots of shine from metallics, Lucite, and mirror. The key is to keep it all mixed up – traditional with mod, black against white, leather meets linen, never too much of one style or genre – it’s the mix that makes it modern. In shopping this collection, you can buy the basics for a whole room, or just a fun accent piece or two to freshen things up; sometimes, that’s all it takes.
