We’ve asked this week’s curator Jordan Carlyle of Carlyle Designs, to share with us his thoughts and inspiration for his Curator’s Collection event. Here’s what he had to say:

As part of my inspiration for this collection I pulled ideas from all around me. For me… New York Chic/Glamour is everything. My inspiration comes from my love and appreciation of all things beautiful, whether it’s in nature, architecture, fashion, food, or people. There really is not a moment that goes by that I don’t find myself in a constant state of appreciation for the beauty of life’s details. I’m an artist and designer that appreciates many different styles. If I had to decide what my signature style is exactly, I would say glamour. New York has been my favorite city to live in so far, and with that being said, it was a must for this collection’s concept.
My personal style is an eclectic mix. I love the classics, modernism, and current trends. I like to use color, texture, and well thought-out details to layer and create a seamless mix of all. When choosing the pieces in this collection those are the keys elements I draw from. Just as in nature, you will find unique wood grains and precious stones. Piece them together with some clean lines and touch glamour and voilà. I believe we all need a little glamour in our lives!
My advice for clients would be save money for key pieces in a room. Spend only what you have to on the important items and use lower cost finds to layer in and complement. Decorating is more about a strong idea and good choices than it is about budget.
