Thoughts From Our Curators: Zoe Feldman of Zoe Feldman Design

We’ve asked this week’s curator Zoe Feldman of Zoe Feldman Design, to share with us her thoughts and inspiration for her Curator’s Collection event. Here’s what she had to say:

To me, a great space is traditional and modern, bright and subtle, obvious and unexpected – I love to create a sort of tension in my spaces. I believe every room should have something unpredictable to personalize it, as well as something classic – like a moment of symmetry – to ground it.  My collection, Modern Traditionalist, celebrates this idea – that great design is the merging of classicism and contrast.

The pieces I chose have a variety of textures, solids, prints, colors, and forms, yet share a classic sensibility that allows them to both blend and add “pop” to a space. I included modern elements like Lucite tables, as well as traditional wing back chairs, with the idea that both are classic enough to live in the same room and enhance each other. I think of rooms as having a sense of history, and the pieces we fill them with tell the story. So, let go and surround yourself with the things you love, the things you’ve inherited, and the things you’ve collected along the way, and let them speak for you.
